“I am from Kazakhstan. I graduated from the national university with a degree in International Relations, and then I completed a master’s degree in France. Upon my return home, I worked for the Alliance Française Astana, as director, for several years. Currently I am developing a cultural and educational center, Dialang Studio, one of its roles is to support cultural projects, to promote a dialogue between cultures. It seems to me that the spirit of these comics fully reflects this idea — to learn new cultures, open up new horizons. I am very happy to be a part of the world of Jak and Bil’s adventures.Of course, the comic book about Kazakhstan is especially dear to me, since the action takes place in my country. But I am no less interested in adventures in Scotland, Gabon and the Middle East. Countries about which I previously had only a distant idea or a set of standard stereotypes. I discover them now, with new colours, because the image of the country is conveyed through the author’s personal impressions received during his life in these countries. I don’t mean to reveal too much, but these comics touch on the most pressing issues of our time such as ecology, biodiversity, energy etc.. It’s amazing how the author manages to fit such a complex agenda into an adventure story and in simple and understandable words.”
